In the 42ndth minute of the game Ezequiel Boniel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but River Plate's Valentin Nafarroa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 43 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Galindo. In a very dangerous position, a player in River Plate fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ezequiel Boniel to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cayetano Leizarraga got free with Valentin Nafarroa in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gaudencio Goyo's late challenge caught a Sanford AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet as Ezequiel Boniel kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Valentin Nafarroa. That made the score 0-2 in the 59 minute of play. After 64 minutes of play, Sanford AFC's Cayetano Leizarraga made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Valentin Nafarroa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sanford AFC's Lázaro Blasi shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 71st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Valentin Nafarroa but with some difficulty. Cayetano Leizarraga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Valentin Nafarroa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 84 minutes of play River Plate's Fausto Galindo was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezequiel Boniel in the 86th minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Valentin Nafarroa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
