The referee ignored Honda F.C's protests and gave Benjamin Eleder a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th minute Hermengildo Oton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by Honda F.C's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Erasmo Paez was slow to take the kick. During this time Nairobi City AFC's players had a chance to rest. After 12 played minutes Nairobi City AFC got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Lleir. Hilario Gumaro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesar Sengrat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 43 played minutes Honda F.C got a freekick which was hit by Tadeo Quinteros. 44 minutes into the match, Nairobi City AFC's Erasmo Paez broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After the first half Honda F.C were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cesar Sengrat stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
