Victor Loi was a little too slow when Omar Rioja got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 1-1. Victor Loi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omar Rioja, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonel Cordarrel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aquilino Oxarra made a kick off. If Victorino Lleir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Aquilino Oxarra kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Leonel Cordarrel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Albert Dunlap. Quiñihual's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonel Cordarrel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Esteban Martinez hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After 84 minutes, Aquilino Oxarra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Deportivo Ateneo FC and the Quiñihual players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Quiñihual manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Deportivo Ateneo FC to win.
