The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Quetrequén defense, Karl Hornvad kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernardo Salbatore. The Quetrequén fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernardo Salbatore should have stopped the shot. Karl Hornvad sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Karl Hornvad came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Quiñihual fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Karl Hornvad couldn't finish the play. Justino Piarres struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Bernardo Salbatore didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Quiñihual. After 34 minutes, João Vaz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Quiñihual and the Quetrequén players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Quiñihual's João Vaz got a free kick in the 35th minute. After 37 played minutes Quetrequén got a freekick which was hit by Anastasio Salomone. If Justino Piarres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Quetrequén's Bernardo Salbatore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justino Piarres in the 43rd minute of play. If Karl Hornvad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Omar Rioja to strike the kick off in the second half. Karl Hornvad received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bernardo Salbatore came out and tried to block the shot, but Karl Hornvad slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 54th minute. Albert Dunlap made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristo Ondino in the 62nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Quetrequén's zone, Justino Piarres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernardo Salbatore came out of the goal and Justino Piarres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th minute of the match, Omar Rioja tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bernardo Salbatore saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 78 minutes into the match, Quetrequén's goalkeeper Bernardo Salbatore had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karl Hornvad. Bernardo Salbatore made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Karl Hornvad sent off a good shot on target. Justino Piarres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Bernardo Salbatore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Quiñihual booed when Quetrequén was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anastasio Salomone didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Quetrequén's Simon Martinez got a free kick in the 96th minute.
