Sampacho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ricardo Cordarin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Ricardo Cordarin's late challenge caught a Sampacho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Cordarin helped the player get up and apologised. Luciano Pietro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Aimar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute, 石渊永 made a precise shot to the right of Luciano Pietro. Velez Sarsfield's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Arnaldo Vellito kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Abel Aimar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sampacho's supporters rose to their feet, but Abel Aimar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luciano Pietro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 30 minutes into the game, Ricardo Cordarin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ruperto Walme. Ricardo Cordarin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. Arnaldo Vellito hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Abel Aimar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abel Aimar got free with Luciano Pietro in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ricardo Cordarin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruperto Walme having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Luciano Pietro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abel Aimar. In the 66th minute Narciso Iturri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luciano Pietro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
