After having played for 5 minutes, Americo Florin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético de Gualeguaychú's supporters crossed their fingers, but Americo Florin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 9thth minute of the game Hermengildo Onofre who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stade Rennais's Ivan Frantzes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Americo Florin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Americo Florin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Ivan Frantzes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th match minute, Stade Rennais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ildefonso Salomone to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Onofre in the 21st minute of play forced Stade Rennais's goalkeeper Ivan Frantzes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Atlético de Gualeguaychú booed when Stade Rennais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eulalio Naelio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Americo Florin scored 0-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ivan Frantzes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hermengildo Onofre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ivan Frantzes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Romeo Basajaun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Stade Rennais getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Delmiro Alvarez hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edgardo Igon stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Stade Rennais's Luis Basajaun got a free kick in the 56th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Stade Rennais's zone, Romeo Basajaun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivan Frantzes came out of the goal and Romeo Basajaun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ivan Frantzes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hermengildo Onofre's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. In the 64th minute, Romeo Basajaun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Americo Florin came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Atlético de Gualeguaychú fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Americo Florin couldn't finish the play. Hermengildo Onofre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Frantzes having to interfere. Romeo Basajaun struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Ivan Frantzes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético de Gualeguaychú. Ivan Frantzes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermengildo Onofre in the 72nd minute of the match. Edgardo Igon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Harry Åhman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Onofre in the 78th minute of play forced Stade Rennais's goalkeeper Ivan Frantzes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Hermengildo Onofre's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivan Frantzes was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Mauricio Aragones fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Frantzes having to interfere. Hermengildo Onofre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hermengildo Onofre had several of the Stade Rennais's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 86 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Ivan Frantzes as he didn't even see the shot coming. Hermengildo Onofre who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Ivan Frantzes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Hermengildo Onofre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 94 minutes of play, Stade Rennais's Eulalio Naelio made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Harry Åhman was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ivan Frantzes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Onofre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Atlético de Gualeguaychú's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
