Israel Javiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgardo Dubardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. When Adrian Matai came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Colón de Santa Fe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrian Matai couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute, Edgardo Dubardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Israel Javiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Dubardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Israel Javiar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Bartolo Rios didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colón de Santa Fe. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Edgardo Dubardo made the kick off in the second half. Edgardo Dubardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Colón de Santa Fe's supporters rose to their feet, but Adrian Matai was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bartolo Rios breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
