Spectators: 7174 (Terracing: 5382, Seating: 1650, VIP seats: 142) Medellín FC's Guido Diagur started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jerzy Majerowicz hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. River Plate's Serafino Sanson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angel Ordono in the 15th minute of play. Celedonio Loren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugenio Llope in the 25th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Diagur came free, but Serafino Sanson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 29 minutes River Plate's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Donato Bide who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guido Diagur in the 33rd minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Serafino Sanson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abel Jorrin kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Chinto during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alberto Rocendo walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After some careless play in the River Plate defense, Faustino Asteri kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Serafino Sanson. The River Plate fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serafino Sanson should have stopped the shot. After the first half Medellín FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eugenio Llope to make the kick off. With a little luck, River Plate's Serafino Sanson got control of the ball when Angel Ordono tried to sneak it across the goal line. River Plate's Serafino Sanson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save River Plate from getting a goal against them. An unexpected shot in the 62nd minute by Angel Ordono got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 67th match minute, River Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselmo Soin to maneuver through the defense. Donato Bide recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Abel Jorrin dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Serafino Sanson, 0-2. 77 minutes into the match, Medellín FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Iztal came free, but Celedonio Loren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Medellín FC's Saturnino Lizar got a free kick in the 79th minute. River Plate's Serafino Sanson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Diagur in the 82nd minute of play. Faustino Asteri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Serafino Sanson made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Medellín FC's Abel Jorrin got a free kick in the 85th minute. Celedonio Loren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugenio Llope, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugenio Llope blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Celedonio Loren having to make a save. Eugenio Llope recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle sounded Medellín FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than River Plate.
