In the 9th minute Jaime Abad shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateo Celino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jaime Abad received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mateo Celino came out and tried to block the shot, but Jaime Abad slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 12th minute. When Gilberto Sotero fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vicente lopez recargado!!'s protests and gave Gilberto Sotero a yellow card for diving instead. Gilberto Sotero kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Ciprian Bitănescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mateo Celino having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Vicente lopez recargado!!'s Gilberto Sotero ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mateo Celino. Mateo Celino yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Abad to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Villa Lugano's Horacio Bertran got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Mateo Celino stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaime Abad's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute.
