With an all-out effort, Newcastle United's Roman Ixaka threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fidel Chorche, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Daniel Jaunzuria came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Maquina de Sangre's Zeledon Rodas. But to his dismay, Zeledon Rodas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zeledon Rodas in the 12th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Daniel Jaunzuria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Jaunzuria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeledon Rodas, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Newcastle United's Daniel Jaunzuria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basilio Markel in the 13th minute of play. Arnoldo Dalmu hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Fidel Chorche received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Roman Ixaka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Maquina de Sangre's goalkeeper Roman Ixaka, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fidel Chorche received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Roman Ixaka tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Basilio Markel kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Clemente James hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Maquina de Sangre's zone, Fidel Chorche stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Ixaka came out of the goal and Fidel Chorche tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Maquina de Sangre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcial Richie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roman Ixaka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fidel Chorche in the 42nd minute of play. Roman Ixaka didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 44th minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. Basilio Markel hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fidel Chorche made a kick off. Newcastle United's Arnoldo Dalmu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Roman Ixaka in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 54th minute Fidel Chorche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Ixaka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roman Ixaka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fidel Chorche in the 57th minute of play. When Damian Valiente fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maquina de Sangre's protests and gave Damian Valiente a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Maquina de Sangre's Damian Valiente got a free kick in the 60th minute. Fidel Chorche struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Roman Ixaka didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newcastle United. If Benigno Olivar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute Fidel Chorche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Ixaka saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benigno Olivar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Roman Ixaka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fidel Chorche, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fidel Chorche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Newcastle United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fidel Chorche was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Newcastle United fully deserved thier win.
