The audience thought a goal was coming when Apolo Locaio got free with Martin Quiroga in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Apolo Locaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Martin Quiroga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Silvio Goizeder's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Martin Quiroga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Apolo Locaio lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Martin Quiroga. Bocampeon's Martin Quiroga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvio Goizeder in the 27th minute of play. If Fermin Basajaun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Bocampeon's zone, Apolo Locaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martin Quiroga came out of the goal and Apolo Locaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Otto Halager blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Martin Quiroga having to make a save. Martin Quiroga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvio Goizeder, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Silvio Goizeder was the one to do the kick off. Martin Quiroga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvio Goizeder, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Apolo Locaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Quiroga having to interfere. Apolo Locaio took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Martin Quiroga. Martin Quiroga dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 63rd minute, Silvio Goizeder ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Quiroga was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. When Salvador Niguel fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bocampeon's protests and gave Salvador Niguel a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Godoy Cruz booed when Bocampeon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Niguel didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Otto Halager in the 75th minute of play forced Bocampeon's goalkeeper Martin Quiroga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Apolo Locaio might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martin Quiroga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Apolo Locaio ran back to his position shaking his head. When Aaron Silban fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bocampeon's protests and gave Aaron Silban a yellow card for diving instead. In the 81st match minute, Bocampeon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Silban to maneuver through the defense. Martin Quiroga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvio Goizeder in the 85th minute of play. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bocampeon's goalkeeper Martin Quiroga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Otto Halager recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Apolo Locaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Martin Quiroga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Otto Halager had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 96 played minutes Bocampeon got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Silban. Godoy Cruz's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
