The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute Hector Tabor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Modesto Kimetz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, El Once Cajas's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Tabor came free, but Modesto Kimetz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute, Silvio Ezkerra ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nestor Ralondo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The supporters of Chaguaral AFC booed when El Once Cajas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harald Wideborg didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Chaguaral AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nestor Ralondo should have stopped the shot. Modesto Kimetz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Tabor in the 32nd minute of the match. After 32 played minutes El Once Cajas got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Sansone. In the 35th minute, Hector Tabor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Chaguaral AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Åke Rudberg came free, but Nestor Ralondo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Jan-Åke Rudberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Once Cajas's supporters rose to their feet, but Jan-Åke Rudberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nestor Ralondo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Harald Wideborg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silvio Ezkerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Ralondo having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Silvio Ezkerra made a kick off. Silvio Ezkerra might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nestor Ralondo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silvio Ezkerra ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 56 minutes, Hector Tabor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chaguaral AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hector Tabor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nestor Ralondo was out of position in the 61 minute of play, and Silvio Ezkerra capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Silvio Ezkerra really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. If Donato Aires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Modesto Kimetz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Aires, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the game, Freddy Ascencio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Once Cajas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chaguaral AFC the free kick. El Once Cajas's Modesto Kimetz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Tabor in the 71st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Donato Aires managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chaguaral AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Donato Aires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Modesto Kimetz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
