Rolando Abaunza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ayacucho booed when 30 Seconds to Mars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anastasio Lia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emilio Herensuge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rolando Abaunza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Ayacucho's Humberto Gudesteo got a free kick in the 32nd minute. After 34 minutes, Hugo Medina made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ayacucho's Ramiro Ovando tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Moises Venceslao blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ramiro Ovando having to make a save. In the 37th minute, Hugo Medina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ramiro Ovando was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Ramiro Ovando showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cláudio Riaño in the 41st minute of the match. Ramiro Ovando made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Medina in the 46th minute of play. Hugo Medina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Ramiro Ovando tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Ayacucho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave 30 Seconds to Mars the free kick. 59 minutes into the match, Ayacucho's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Medina came free, but Ramiro Ovando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st minute, one of Ayacucho:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ayacucho. The referee gave 30 Seconds to Mars a penalty, 64 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Anastasio Lia, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ayacucho's Ramiro Ovando. 0-4. 70 minutes into the match, Ayacucho's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Medina came free, but Ramiro Ovando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ayacucho's Ramiro Ovando proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Ayacucho from getting a goal against them. After 72 played minutes Ayacucho got a freekick which was hit by Teodosio Oalo. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Hugo Medina took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Ramiro Ovando to make any attempt to save it. A hard shot 90 in the game by Cláudio Riaño from a close distance when the talented Ramiro Ovando managed to make a qualified save. Ayacucho's players were relieved. When the match was over 30 Seconds to Mars could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ayacucho throughout the match.
