Club Atletico Boca Junior's Leon Izel shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 12th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Flavio Elorri but with some difficulty. 16 minutes into the match, Nacional.uy's goal looked a bit too open when Leandro Mendiko came free, but Flavio Elorri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute, Roberto Roland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavio Elorri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Mendiko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Mendiko in the 21st minute of play forced Nacional.uy's goalkeeper Flavio Elorri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raimundo Fliz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victor Egoitz having to interfere. In the 38th minute Leandro Mendiko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Elorri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavio Elorri stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leandro Mendiko's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Nacional.uy's goalkeeper Flavio Elorri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roberto Roland. The supporters of Club Atletico Boca Junior booed when Nacional.uy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeo Cordaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the game, Club Atletico Boca Junior's Roberto Roland nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Elorri made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tobias Gonza was the one to do the kick off. Tobias Gonza was extremely unlucky when he, in the 60th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Flavio Elorri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Mendiko in the 61st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobias Gonza in the 78th minute of play forced Club Atletico Boca Junior's goalkeeper Victor Egoitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leandro Mendiko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nacional.uy's Raimundo Fliz got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 94th match minute, Nacional.uy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvio Odol to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Club Atletico Boca Junior fans cheered their team off the field, for while Nacional.uy had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
