After 12 minutes of play, Atlanta's Rogelio Fortun made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Camilo Heriberto was left in no man's land by his defense there! Camilo Heriberto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Santiago Lizar's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Rogelio Fortun had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Camilo Heriberto. Camilo Heriberto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aquilino Frantzes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Angel Lico during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th match minute, Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angel Lico to maneuver through the defense. Camilo Heriberto came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Atlanta's Rogelio Fortun. But to his dismay, Rogelio Fortun quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. After 37 played minutes Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Marciano Toribio. In the 40th minute Aquilino Frantzes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Camilo Heriberto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P's Camilo Heriberto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aquilino Frantzes in the 42nd minute of play. Santiago Lizar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Atlanta were leading 1-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aquilino Frantzes to make the kick off. Santiago Lizar kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P's Camilo Heriberto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogelio Fortun in the 62nd minute of play. With a little luck, Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P's Camilo Heriberto got control of the ball when Benjamin Henry tried to sneak it across the goal line. Romeo Sasoin struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Camilo Heriberto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlanta. Aquilino Frantzes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Camilo Heriberto having to interfere. Camilo Heriberto came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Atlanta's Benjamin Henry. But to his dismay, Benjamin Henry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aquilino Frantzes in the 77th minute of play forced Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P's goalkeeper Camilo Heriberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 78 minutes on the clock, Damaso Bidun commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Damaso Bidun kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 81st minute Teo Estefan managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. A hard shot 90 in the game by Aquilino Frantzes from a close distance when the talented Camilo Heriberto managed to make a qualified save. Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P's players were relieved. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gustavo Shepherd during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Gustavo Shepherd hit a great ball. Benjamin Henry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Camilo Heriberto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aquilino Frantzes's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. Atlanta played a much better game than Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P and deserved their victory. The Gimnasia y Esgrima L.P players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
