Gavino Ferdinand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justino Cayo in the 10th minute of the match. Gavino Ferdinand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Justino Cayo, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgardo Endura in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gavino Ferdinand saved Fantasma de la B from getting behind. After having played for 22 minutes, Justino Cayo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. newells's supporters crossed their fingers, but Justino Cayo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, newells's Santo Claus got a free kick in the 29th minute. Edgardo Endura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Ferdinand having to interfere. The Fantasma de la B players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. newells were winning 0-1.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgardo Endura got free with Gavino Ferdinand in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Justino Cayo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gavino Ferdinand read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Desiderio Eguntsenti managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fantasma de la B's supporters rose to their feet, but Desiderio Eguntsenti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jairo Ibañez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The long shot by Adrian Arias in the 80th minute really tested Gavino Ferdinand's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The referee showed Desiderio Eguntsenti the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
