The audience was convinced that Mauricio Patrido's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ricardo Cresconio was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. Eduardo Tercero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victorino Ebardo having to interfere. Maximo Liberto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Mauricio Patrido took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ricardo Cresconio to make any attempt to save it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximo Liberto in the 23rd minute of play forced EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB's goalkeeper Victorino Ebardo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Eduardo Tercero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 29th minute, Maximo Liberto made a precise shot to the right of Victorino Ebardo. EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Mauricio Patrido struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Ricardo Cresconio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB. After a defensive mix-up in EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB's zone, Maximo Liberto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Victorino Ebardo came out of the goal and Maximo Liberto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45th minute of the match Eloy Birjaio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victorino Ebardo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eduardo Tercero to make the kick off. When Mauricio Patrido came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mauricio Patrido couldn't finish the play. After having played for 53 minutes, Mauricio Patrido managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauricio Patrido was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 55th minute, Edgardo Manni got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 56 minutes, Placido Abeitia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rucanelo and the EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB players grew even worse after the yellow card. EL RENGO FUTBOL CLUB's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Abel Cordario in the 59th minute. The corner ended in Abel Cordario almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Rucanelo's Ricardo Cresconio did a great save. In the 67th minute, Mauricio Patrido ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Cresconio was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Ricardo Cresconio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mauricio Patrido's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. Maximo Liberto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victorino Ebardo having to interfere. In the 79th minute, Fabio Argenis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eduardo Tercero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Victorino Ebardo having to make a save. Victorino Ebardo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maximo Liberto in the 83rd minute. Maximo Liberto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ricardo Cresconio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Manni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edgardo Manni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
