Severino Tab hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. In the 4th match minute, Estudiantes LP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severino Tab to maneuver through the defense. Benicio Paz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Americo Flor in the 6th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Estudiantes LP's zone, Everardo Unax stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guaberto Walme came out of the goal and Everardo Unax tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Estudiantes LP getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Severino Tab hit a great ball. Benicio Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquin Blasi, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After 33 played minutes C.A.Colon got a freekick which was hit by Baltasar Eufrasio. C.A.Colon's Everardo Unax was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 35th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Everardo Unax managed to get in a good position for a shot. C.A.Colon's supporters rose to their feet, but Everardo Unax was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guaberto Walme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Estudiantes LP's zone, Everardo Unax stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guaberto Walme came out of the goal and Everardo Unax tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tobias Llanos to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Americo Flor got free with Benicio Paz in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 54th minute, Tobias Llanos fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Benicio Paz, passed just outside the right post. Everardo Unax might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guaberto Walme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Everardo Unax ran back to his position shaking his head. Through an outstanding action, after 62 minutes, Benicio Paz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Benicio Paz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tobias Llanos in the 69th minute of play. With a little luck, C.A.Colon's Benicio Paz got control of the ball when Americo Flor tried to sneak it across the goal line. Haroldo Urdaspal's late challenge caught a Estudiantes LP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Haroldo Urdaspal helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Estudiantes LP booed when C.A.Colon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Urdaspal didn't get a good kick on the ball. But to his dismay, Americo Flor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. 91 minutes into the match, Estudiantes LP's goal looked a bit too open when Everardo Unax came free, but Guaberto Walme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erasmo Tano kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Estudiantes LP's Severino Tab dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. The Estudiantes LP supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Estudiantes LP would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
