The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 12 minutes, Herminio Hodei mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Encrucijada and the Chajarí players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 15thth minute of the game Fabio Txurio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chajarí's Samuel Benitez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leonel Costante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Prudencio Ovando tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Herminio Hodei was shown his second yellow card after 21 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. During the 35th minute of the match Dalmacio Cordareo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dalmacio Cordareo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Encrucijada's Prudencio Ovando played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Costante in the 36th minute of play. After 41 played minutes, Chajarí's Anibal Gorosti shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Prudencio Ovando came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chajarí reached it. A collision led to Chajarí getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Timoteo Sidro hit a great ball. Gervasio Herensuge charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gervasio Herensuge the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Encrucijada getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonel Costante in the 51st minute of play forced Encrucijada's goalkeeper Prudencio Ovando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Prudencio Ovando showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonel Costante, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After 57 minutes of play, Chajarí's Ismael Nesor made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Prudencio Ovando was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leonel Costante's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Prudencio Ovando read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Ismael Nesor got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
