The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes of play, Zonda's Anselmo Fernandes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Horacio Guillem took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 12th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Godfredo Colon. Tartagal FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Raimundo Ihintza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute, Manuel Lekubegi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 28 minutes, Desiderio Emmanuel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tartagal FC and the Zonda players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Feliciano Rico during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 30 minutes into the game, one of Tartagal FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 32nd minute there was a penalty for Zonda. Horacio Guillem stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Godfredo Colon. 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Aldo Rico managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tartagal FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aldo Rico was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ceferino Urbasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute, Raimundo Ihintza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 45 minutes into the game, Fabricio Ibañez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tartagal FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zonda the free kick. The supporters of Zonda booed when Tartagal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabricio Ibañez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tartagal FC's Godfredo Colon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jose Beturian in the 46th minute of play. The Tartagal FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Zonda were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Jose Beturian made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teodosio Henric during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Tartagal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodosio Henric to maneuver through the defense. Godfredo Colon acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 57th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Horacio Guillem. After having played for 60 minutes, Serafino Lamberto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tartagal FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serafino Lamberto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aldo Rico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Serafino Lamberto came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Tartagal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Serafino Lamberto couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute Jose Beturian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godfredo Colon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabricio Ibañez kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Aldo Rico received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Ceferino Urbasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Serafino Lamberto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Serafino Lamberto's late challenge caught a Zonda's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Serafino Lamberto helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Tartagal FC's Serafino Lamberto got a free kick in the 89th minute. The Tartagal FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Zonda to win.
