Angel Casado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saverio Hug having to interfere. Agustin Sasoin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Saverio Hug tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the game, Ricardo Jerardo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Covendiar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Progreso AFC the free kick. In the 25th minute, Ricardo Jerardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricardo Jerardo got his second yellow card in the match during the 31st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cornelio Lartaun got free with Victorino Reynardo in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Saverio Hug took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustin Sasoin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Covendiar's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
