After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Gust Ennemans got a free kick in the 18th minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Netherlands:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Porvoon Futura:s goal. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnout Reekers firmly grabbed it by the left post. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Henrik Höijer was slow to take the kick. During this time Porvoon Futura's players had a chance to rest. If Paavo Hirvonen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Jari Litmanen kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Porvoon Futura's Francesco Toldo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Porvoon Futura from getting a goal against them. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Francesco Toldo made a huge save. In the 94th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Eikelkamp to maneuver through the defense. In the 96thth minute of the game Ruben Valkenaers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
