Denis Rius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgilio Telesforo in the 4th minute of play. Jairo Pelayo's late challenge caught a Varela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jairo Pelayo helped the player get up and apologised. 5 minutes into the game, one of Monje:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Gervasio Igon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Rius having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Varela's goal looked a bit too open when Gervasio Igon came free, but Denis Rius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 25 played minutes Varela got a freekick which was hit by Serafin Polentzi. Sebastian Ekaitz made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Urbano Nazario sent off a good shot on target. When Cosme Dalmu fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Monje's protests and gave Cosme Dalmu a yellow card for diving instead. Cosme Dalmu kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. When Urbano Nazario came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Varela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urbano Nazario couldn't finish the play. Diego Laurentzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Sebastian Ekaitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 minutes of play, Monje's Virgilio Telesforo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Denis Rius was left in no man's land by his defense there!

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diego Laurentzi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Urbano Nazario struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Sebastian Ekaitz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varela. Candido Froila took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sebastian Ekaitz. Monje's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gervasio Igon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denis Rius having to interfere. Virgilio Telesforo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 65 played minutes Monje got a freekick which was hit by Cosme Dalmu. Diego Laurentzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastian Ekaitz having to interfere. The supporters of Monje booed when Varela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guido Aurken didn't get a good kick on the ball. Monje's Sebastian Ekaitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urbano Nazario in the 76th minute of play. Varela's Denis Rius proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Varela from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Varela's zone, Virgilio Telesforo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Denis Rius came out of the goal and Virgilio Telesforo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gervasio Igon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91stth minute of the game Diego Laurentzi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Monje's Sebastian Ekaitz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sebastian Ekaitz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Diego Laurentzi's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. Denis Rius made an important save on a dangerous shot by Virgilio Telesforo in the 96th minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
