Segundo Stephen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornelio Artizar having to interfere. Leon Erroman's late challenge caught a Pedernales's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leon Erroman helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Leon Erroman got a free kick in the 8th minute. Celedonio Frances received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Apolo Venceslao tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Pedernales's goal looked a bit too open when Wilfredo Guipuzkoa came free, but Cornelio Artizar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Boca Juniors fans' excitement grew in the 15th match minute when Boca Juniors's Segundo Stephen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 19 minutes, Celedonio Frances mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Pedernales and the Boca Juniors players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th match minute, Pedernales was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celedonio Frances to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Segundo Stephen in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cornelio Artizar saved Pedernales from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Wilfredo Guipuzkoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Guipuzkoa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cornelio Artizar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Igor Ursino hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. When Wilfredo Guipuzkoa came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Boca Juniors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilfredo Guipuzkoa couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Pedernales's zone, Segundo Stephen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelio Artizar came out of the goal and Segundo Stephen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alejandro Gonzales hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Apolo Venceslao took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ildefonso Modestio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Segundo Paublo charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Segundo Paublo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Leon Erroman got his second yellow card in the match during the 38th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 39th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leon Erroman to maneuver through the defense. Cornelio Artizar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfredo Guipuzkoa, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. 45 minutes into the game, Octavio Emeterio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Cornelio Artizar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ildefonso Modestio made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Pedernales's zone, Segundo Paublo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelio Artizar came out of the goal and Segundo Paublo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cornelio Artizar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 70 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Ildefonso Modestio came free, but Apolo Venceslao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Pedernales defense, Wilfredo Guipuzkoa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cornelio Artizar. The Pedernales fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornelio Artizar should have stopped the shot. If Wilfredo Guipuzkoa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Octavio Emeterio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Cornelio Artizar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
