After a rather tough play, Riverblink's Ernesto Bembe got a free kick in the 17th minute. Riverblink's Tadeo Ignado got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Riverblink booed when C.A. BOCA JUNIOR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Jakes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The tension between the Riverblink and the C.A. BOCA JUNIOR players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marco Abeitia missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 44 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Clemente Dolfo right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benicio Bladi in the 49th minute of play forced Riverblink's goalkeeper Clemente Dolfo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clodoveo Gau stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The coaching staff of Riverblink protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and David Caton had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. When the match had been going on for 66 minutes, C.A. BOCA JUNIOR's Aaron Guillerme got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Clemente Dolfo.
