He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Perú reached it. Julio Pietro struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Edelmiro Peruxu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Perú. Freddy Galindo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidro Osoro having to interfere. A collision led to Perú getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Vicente Luar hit a great ball. After 44 played minutes Perú got a freekick which was hit by Prudencio Jakue. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Freddy Galindo was the one to do the kick off. Evaristo Manny hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 56 played minutes Perú got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Kemen. Gaudencio Iturri charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gaudencio Iturri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Perú's supporters crossed their fingers, but Casimiro Orlanda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
