Oscar Etxatxu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fulgencio Cordaro in the 18th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Fulgencio Cordaro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Godoy Cruz's supporters rose to their feet, but Fulgencio Cordaro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Etxatxu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fulgencio Cordaro took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oscar Etxatxu. Godoy Cruz's Ulises Poz got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Evelio Omero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Etxatxu having to interfere. When Fulgencio Cordaro came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Godoy Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fulgencio Cordaro couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Evelio Omero made a kick off. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Godoy Cruz's Rafael Maties got a free kick in the 65th minute. Cangrejillos RN9's Oscar Etxatxu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Cangrejillos RN9 from getting a goal against them.
