After a defensive mix-up in ROMA FC's zone, Mauro Hermon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ariel Dominguez came out of the goal and Mauro Hermon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to ROMA FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Honorio Loren hit a great ball. Honorio Loren kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Lanus's goalkeeper Justo Cordera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rigoberto Avellaneda. 28 minutes into the match, ROMA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Hermon came free, but Ariel Dominguez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Atletico Lanus's Mauro Hermon got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Laureano Selmo might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ariel Dominguez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laureano Selmo ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Club Atletico Lanus's Elvio Fiz got a free kick in the 41st minute. Rigoberto Avellaneda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Justo Cordera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Emilio Estebe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Justo Cordera was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mauro Hermon to make the kick off. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emilio Estebe couldn't finish the play. Club Atletico Lanus's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
