The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Luis Ignado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusebio Elizardo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adan Abarca in the 8th minute. Blas Chaime fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusebio Elizardo having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arnulfo Fresco during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th minute, Arnulfo Fresco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 16th minute by Cleto Domingues got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 19 minutes into the match, Nelson's goal looked a bit too open when Cleto Domingues came free, but Eusebio Elizardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Yeso's Cleto Domingues sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eusebio Elizardo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eusebio Elizardo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cleto Domingues's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Gaspar Garikoitz kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. If Adan Abarca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute of the match, Cleto Domingues tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Eusebio Elizardo saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lisandro Veto during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Nelson getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Lisandro Veto hit a great ball. Cipriano Neto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eusebio Elizardo. Nelson's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Yeso booed when Nelson was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciriaco Baldovino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Yeso's Cipriano Neto tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Eusebio Elizardo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cleto Domingues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adan Abarca got free with Eusebio Elizardo in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th minute, Luis Ignado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Nelson were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnulfo Fresco to make the kick off. Luis Ignado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Clodoveo Gaufred made a huge save. After 54 played minutes Yeso got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Soin. If Adan Abarca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cleto Domingues in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eusebio Elizardo saved Nelson from getting behind. When Yeso's Cleto Domingues in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Nelson's goalie prevented a goal. If Arnulfo Fresco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnulfo Fresco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute, Adan Abarca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yeso fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 75 minutes into the match, Nelson's goal looked a bit too open when Adan Abarca came free, but Eusebio Elizardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Yeso's goal looked a bit too open when Arnulfo Fresco came free, but Clodoveo Gaufred reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Nelson's zone, Cleto Domingues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusebio Elizardo came out of the goal and Cleto Domingues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94thth minute of the game Adan Abarca who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nelson's Eusebio Elizardo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Nelson had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
