But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulises Hug couldn't finish the play. Cristo Iigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Faustino Cresitobalo in the 32nd minute of play. Mateo Quilino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Firme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ulises Hug fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mateo Quilino having to interfere. If Ulises Hug had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ulises Hug sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mateo Quilino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulises Hug, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After the first half UnionTate were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Faustino Cresitobalo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mateo Quilino was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Antonio Firme capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Antonio Firme really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. If Ulises Hug had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Elpidio Walme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ulises Hug struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Mateo Quilino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for UnionTate. A collision led to Athens FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Natalio Gustau hit a great ball. Ulises Hug could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Mateo Quilino made a huge save. If Faustino Cresitobalo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute Baltasar Ritchie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristo Iigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristo Iigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustino Cresitobalo, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Elpidio Walme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Baltasar Ritchie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Cristo Iigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The UnionTate supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing UnionTate would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
