The supporters of Guillermino FC booed when Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Braulio Gudesteo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ilixo Erce made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfredo Nardo in the 14th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 25th minute by Wilfredo Nardo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Victorio Egoi took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ilixo Erce. Ilixo Erce dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Victorio Egoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilixo Erce having to interfere. Independiente's Ilixo Erce proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Independiente from getting a goal against them. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Independiente's goalkeeper Ilixo Erce, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Victorio Egoi took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ilixo Erce. Ilixo Erce dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After having played for 41 minutes, Gilberto Gaueko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Gaueko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes had been played when some careless play by Independiente's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alfredo Hermon was slow to take the kick. During this time Guillermino FC's players had a chance to rest. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Braulio Gudesteo fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Independiente's protests and gave Braulio Gudesteo a yellow card for diving instead. Braulio Gudesteo hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute, Alfredo Hermon sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Independiente's Ilixo Erce didn't even have to move. Ilixo Erce took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victorio Egoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Gilberto Gaueko hit a great ball. Wilfredo Nardo took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ilixo Erce. Ilixo Erce dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Ilixo Erce stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wilfredo Nardo's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. If Victorio Egoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 70th match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonatan Lehoi to maneuver through the defense. Independiente's Ilixo Erce played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victorio Egoi in the 73rd minute of play. Ilixo Erce showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victorio Egoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute Norberto Faro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilixo Erce saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Victorio Egoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Braulio Gudesteo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luis Ferran having to make a save. Gilberto Gaueko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luis Ferran having to interfere. Filomeno Gomesano hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match.
