When Clodoveo Criston came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Chañar FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clodoveo Criston couldn't finish the play. Independiente's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chañar FC the free kick. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ilixo Erce showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 44thth minute of the game Clodoveo Criston who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Independiente's Ilixo Erce was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ilixo Erce showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilfredo Hulberto in the 45th minute of the match. With his leg Ilixo Erce managed to avoid a goal in the 49thth minute, when Chañar FC's Jaime Abajas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Clodoveo Criston made a kick off. Ilixo Erce took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clodoveo Criston, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 56 minutes, Braulio Gudesteo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Wilfredo Hulberto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chañar FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilfredo Hulberto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ilixo Erce breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Independiente's Ilixo Erce played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Abajas in the 85th minute of play. 90 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Clodoveo Criston came free, but Ilixo Erce reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chañar FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
