The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in newells's zone, Fabricio Kiliz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugenio Christobal came out of the goal and Fabricio Kiliz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of newells booed when Piemonte pera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Rio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eugenio Christobal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Damian Tavio in the 16th minute. When Severino Ermengol fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored newells's protests and gave Severino Ermengol a yellow card for diving instead. If Fabricio Kiliz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Daniel Rio came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Piemonte pera fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Rio couldn't finish the play. Damian Tavio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Eugenio Christobal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Severino Ermengol hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Venancio Ilixo managed to get in a good position for a shot. newells's supporters rose to their feet, but Venancio Ilixo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nunez Lucado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Damian Tavio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Venancio Ilixo came free in the 89th minute and tried to tip the ball over Nunez Lucado, but to the joy of Piemonte pera's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. After 93 played minutes newells got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Adrio. Piemonte pera's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
