Alberto Txartiko had several of the newells's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 13 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Eugenio Christobal as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Venancio Ilixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Dante Bertran managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cucu FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dante Bertran was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugenio Christobal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, newells's Eugenio Christobal got control of the ball when Alberto Txartiko tried to sneak it across the goal line. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 40th minute, but Eugenio Christobal got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving newells hanging dry this time. Eugenio Christobal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Severino Ermengol was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, newells's Alfredo Neto got a free kick in the 54th minute. Jeremias Gomesano took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eugenio Christobal. newells's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Eugenio Christobal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Txartiko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugenio Christobal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Txartiko in the 97th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Cucu FC had played much better football throughout.
