With 3 minutes on the clock, Rolando Asteri commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Rolando Asteri hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Mantzio in the 7th minute of play forced Solano's goalkeeper Federico Bladi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elias Caradaro hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 22nd match minute, Solano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonides Ricart to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Solano booed when River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mateo Lamberto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute, Ubaldo Honrio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Federico Bladi. The goal made the score 1-0. River Plate's Lucas Lore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucas Steven in the 34th minute of play. If Leonides Ricart had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Federico Bladi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Blas Gentza in the 38th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Rigoberto Luix had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Federico Bladi. Solano's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rigoberto Luix was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After 42 minutes, Mateo Lamberto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River Plate and the Solano players grew even worse after the yellow card. Adolfo Feliu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernando Mantzio to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernando Mantzio in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Federico Bladi saved Solano from getting behind. Federico Bladi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blas Gentza in the 63rd minute of play. Lucas Lore didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Solano. After having played for 71 minutes, Leonides Ricart managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Solano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonides Ricart was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 80 minutes into the match, Solano's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Mantzio came free, but Federico Bladi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Federico Bladi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blas Gentza in the 81st minute of play. Fernando Mantzio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucas Lore was out of position in the 86 minute of play, and Conrado Obeko capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Conrado Obeko really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Mantzio in the 90th minute of play forced Solano's goalkeeper Federico Bladi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Remigio Musko came free in the 92nd minute and tried to tip the ball over Lucas Lore, but to the joy of River Plate's supporters the ball went over. In the 95th minute, Mateo Lamberto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. River Plate's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
