The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Varela's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Blanco came free, but Cristian Llin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicolas Blanco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Camilo Benvido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Amadeo Piearres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Timoteo Abel got free with Amadeo Piearres in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 22nd minute Camilo Benvido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeo Piearres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 24thth minute of the game Angelo Fernandes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varela's Cristian Llin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 27th minute Camilo Benvido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeo Piearres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amadeo Piearres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Camilo Benvido, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute, Camilo Benvido got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cristian Llin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Blanco in the 46th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Angelo Fernandes in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristian Llin saved Varela from getting behind. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Angelo Fernandes to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Varela's zone, Nicolas Blanco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristian Llin came out of the goal and Nicolas Blanco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Cuchara Fc getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Celedonio Neron hit a great ball. Cuchara Fc's Amadeo Piearres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timoteo Abel in the 61st minute of play. Camilo Benvido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Amadeo Piearres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cuchara Fc's Amadeo Piearres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timoteo Abel in the 70th minute of play. Varela's Julian Policarpio got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Varela's Cristian Llin got control of the ball when Nicolas Blanco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cristian Llin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelo Fernandes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amadeo Piearres didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Camilo Benvido went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Celedonio Neron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristian Llin having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Nicolas Blanco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cuchara Fc's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolas Blanco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristian Llin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Varela fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cuchara Fc had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
