Leones FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Damaso Firmin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gregorio Lico in the 29th minute of play forced Covunco's goalkeeper Dario Eliazar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Leones FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. Edgard Merexildo kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The Covunco players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Leones FC were winning 1-3.

If Godofredo Estefan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute.
