Spectators: 6397 (Terracing: 5397, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Edelmiro Eriz took the kick off in the first half of the match. Rigoberto Egun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Haroldo Franco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnaldo Garaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Nestor Vela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Charras's Edelmiro Eriz in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Grupo Universitario's goalie prevented a goal. If Eliseo Dorio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rigoberto Egun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Haroldo Franco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Haroldo Franco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eliseo Dorio in the 22nd minute. After 23 played minutes Charras got a freekick which was hit by Carmelo Quintin. In the 26th minute Sergio Caton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Franco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nestor Vela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Garaona in the 29th minute of play. Sergio Caton charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sergio Caton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 31st match minute, Grupo Universitario was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergio Caton to maneuver through the defense. Damaso Aires took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 32nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nestor Vela. Grupo Universitario's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Grupo Universitario's goal looked a bit too open when Edelmiro Eriz came free, but Nestor Vela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 43 minutes, Rigoberto Egun managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grupo Universitario's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rigoberto Egun was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Charras's zone, Rigoberto Egun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haroldo Franco came out of the goal and Rigoberto Egun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After 51 minutes, Apolo Dubardo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Charras and the Grupo Universitario players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th of the match, Edelmiro Eriz tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Nestor Vela got in the way and made a wonderful save. Edelmiro Eriz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Haroldo Franco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Dorio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Grupo Universitario's Nestor Vela got control of the ball when Arnaldo Garaona tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edelmiro Eriz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Claudio Fernendo during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Claudio Fernendo hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 72nd minute of the match Charras got a corner. Grupo Universitario's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Damaso Aires ran over to the corner to take the kick. A very nice done corner allowed Edelmiro Eriz to score against Nestor Vela in Grupo Universitario's goal. 1-2 after 73 minutes. When Arnaldo Garaona came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Charras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnaldo Garaona couldn't finish the play. 86 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Garaona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nestor Vela. Grupo Universitario's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arnaldo Garaona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Rigoberto Egun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Haroldo Franco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Grupo Universitario booed when Charras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carmelo Quintin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rigoberto Egun in the 98th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Haroldo Franco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Charras's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
