After 16 played minutes, Unione Sportiva Lecce's Everardo Bastian shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Leonides Sein came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Unione Sportiva Lecce reached it. If Luis Heli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Millano in the 22nd minute of play forced Unione Sportiva Lecce's goalkeeper Jose Bihar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Huachana AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Heli came free, but Leonides Sein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Luis Heli came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Unione Sportiva Lecce fans jumped to their feet. One of Unione Sportiva Lecce:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Huachana AFC:s goal.
