With a little luck, Millonarios FC's Haroldo Larpe got control of the ball when Genaro Marz tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Saraza defense, Rigoberto Ortle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Herminio Lehoi. The Saraza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Herminio Lehoi should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Otsando in the 33rd minute of play forced Saraza's goalkeeper Herminio Lehoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Haroldo Larpe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Celso Garcia went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Haroldo Larpe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolas Irrintzi in the 39th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Garcia in the 43rd minute of play forced Millonarios FC's goalkeeper Haroldo Larpe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ezequiel Nuno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Haroldo Larpe made a huge save. In the 46th minute of the match, Celso Garcia tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Haroldo Larpe saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. A hard shot by Valentin Lorien from long distance, 49 minutes into the match, got Haroldo Larpe's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oscar Otsando to make the kick off. Valentin Lorien took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 54th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Haroldo Larpe. Millonarios FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 56th match minute, Saraza was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Melquiades Elija to maneuver through the defense. Haroldo Larpe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vladimiro Opilano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Celso Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Haroldo Larpe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jorge Ponc in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Haroldo Larpe saved Millonarios FC from getting behind. In the 81st minute Jorge Ponc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Haroldo Larpe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
