Mencué's Gilberto Sidro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santiago Lauro in the 21st minute of play. Mencué's Arturo Teofilio got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 24th minute Santo Laurin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Belmiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Arturo Teofilio notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ateneo Estrada's Benjamin Belmiro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago Lauro in the 60th minute of play forced Mencué's goalkeeper Gilberto Sidro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arturo Teofilio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Belmiro having to interfere.
