The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Ancajuli FC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Denis Orlanda hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Newells's goalkeeper Florentino Balesio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Florentino Balesio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnulfo Mannuel, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Saturnino Pepillo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Florentino Balesio, 1-0. After having played for 33 minutes, Carlos Ibar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newells's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Ibar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Remigio Javiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Sugoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Leonardo Sugoi put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Remigio Javiar. In the 46th minute, Lucio Evangelista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Florentino Balesio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gogo Laurendi in the 53rd minute of the match. Santos Pereyra hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Florentino Balesio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnulfo Mannuel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Denis Orlanda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Celso Quilo fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ancajuli FC's protests and gave Celso Quilo a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ancajuli FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 73 minutes, Newells's Carlos Ibar got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Remigio Javiar. Ariel Beturian hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Arnulfo Mannuel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 86th minute Santos Pereyra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florentino Balesio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Florentino Balesio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denis Orlanda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Newells getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Inocencio Lander hit a great ball. After 90 played minutes Newells got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Sugoi. Denis Orlanda's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Florentino Balesio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Lucio Evangelista charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lucio Evangelista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Newells booed when Ancajuli FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucio Evangelista didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Leonardo Sugoi sped through Ancajuli FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Remigio Javiar. When the match was over Newells could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ancajuli FC throughout the match.
