Jonatan Hermelando was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 9 minutes into the match, Castilla AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Pereyra came free, but Jonatan Hermelando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Isaias Quintan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Eusebio Aires's late challenge caught a Pichincha's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eusebio Aires helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Castilla AFC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Eusebio Aires hit a great ball. Isaias Quintan took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonatan Hermelando. Jonatan Hermelando dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 26 played minutes Pichincha got a freekick which was hit by Feliberto Ekaitz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Froilan Pereyra in the 35th minute of play forced Castilla AFC's goalkeeper Jonatan Hermelando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Isaias Quintan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Isaias Quintan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 41 minutes into the match, Castilla AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Pereyra came free, but Jonatan Hermelando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pichincha's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Isaias Quintan in the 42nd minute. Pichincha's Isaias Quintan was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonatan Hermelando in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience cheered when Isaias Quintan's long shot passed Jonatan Hermelando's right side. It was 0-3, 42 minutes into the match. Froilan Pereyra struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Jonatan Hermelando didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pichincha. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Froilan Pereyra made a kick off. Jonatan Hermelando made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Froilan Pereyra sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Pichincha booed when Castilla AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardino Leoiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Pichincha's Feliberto Ekaitz got a free kick in the 66th minute. Isaias Quintan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Froilan Pereyra in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonatan Hermelando, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 80 played minutes Pichincha got a freekick which was hit by Feliberto Ekaitz. Jonatan Hermelando was out of position in the 83 minute of play, and Tobias Bertran capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal.
