But to his dismay, Isaac Rico quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Dante Cambranes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaac Rico in the 30th minute of play. Eliseo Arias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Club Catigas's zone, Saturnino Gizon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquin Jakue came out of the goal and Saturnino Gizon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquin Jakue made an important save on a dangerous shot by Saturnino Gizon in the 39th minute. Eliseo Arias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquin Jakue read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Saturnino Gizon made a kick off. Gustavo Orzaize was slow to take the kick. During this time Club Catigas's players had a chance to rest. Club Catigas were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over La Plata FC's much stronger midfield.
