The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Leonel Pinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Martino, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Leandro Martino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Pinto having to interfere. In the 7th minute, Mauro Medina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 9th minute Alfredo Oinatz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bela Torcida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Leandro Martino came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Morenillo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leandro Martino couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Mauro Medina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leonel Pinto was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. In the 20th play minute Rodolfo Luix came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Bela Torcida. 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Morenillo's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Oinatz came free, but Bela Torcida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredo Oinatz in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bela Torcida saved Morenillo from getting behind. 26 minutes into the game, Alfredo Oinatz recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bela Torcida. Alfredo Oinatz showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Mauro Medina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leonel Pinto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leandro Martino's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Leandro Martino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 48th minute, Leandro Martino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Isidoro Basualdo's late challenge caught a GRAMBY FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isidoro Basualdo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 57th match minute, Morenillo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidoro Basualdo to maneuver through the defense. Ramiro Berenguer, 58 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The supporters of GRAMBY FC booed when Morenillo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isidoro Basualdo didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, GRAMBY FC's Leonel Pinto got control of the ball when Mauro Medina tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Oinatz in the 69th minute of play forced Morenillo's goalkeeper Bela Torcida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leandro Martino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonel Pinto having to interfere. Leonel Pinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Martino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rodolfo Luix in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bela Torcida saved Morenillo from getting behind.
