The audience was convinced that Freddy Jerano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Angel Piarres was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. In the 12thth minute of the game Filomeno Chaime who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Los Andes de la A's Humberto Kiliz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Puelches AFC's goalkeeper Angel Piarres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reynaldo Thomas. Humberto Kiliz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filomeno Chaime in the 39th minute of play. Freddy Jerano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angel Piarres having to interfere. After the first half Puelches AFC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With his leg Humberto Kiliz managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when Puelches AFC's Mauro Polentzi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 57th minute, Filomeno Chaime fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Freddy Jerano scored 1-2 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Angel Piarres, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Freddy Jerano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reynaldo Thomas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Angel Piarres having to make a save. The tension between the Puelches AFC and the Los Andes de la A players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Puelches AFC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Oscar Heli hit a great ball. The Puelches AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Puelches AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
