With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joel Gorbea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Joel Gorbea successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 43 minutes into the match, Atlético Tucuman's goal looked a bit too open when Saverio Chago came free, but Joel Gorbea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Saverio Chago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Guaraní's Saverio Chago got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 67th match minute, Guaraní was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo Amor to maneuver through the defense. Atlético Tucuman's Joel Gorbea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saverio Chago in the 70th minute of play. Saverio Chago scored 2-0 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joel Gorbea, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Joel Gorbea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saverio Chago in the 78th minute of play. After 83rd play minutes Saverio Chago shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Joel Gorbea and just under the crossbar into goal. Saverio Chago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Joel Gorbea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Saverio Chago made a precise shot to the right of Joel Gorbea. Atlético Tucuman's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Saverio Chago in the 98th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joel Gorbea saved Atlético Tucuman from getting behind. Atlético Tucuman's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
