After having played for 6 minutes, Rogelio Ceandro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Defensores de Belgrano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogelio Ceandro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Defensores de Belgrano's Danilo Lope slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gustavo Lleir. That made the score 1-0 after 9 minutes of play. Danilo Lope sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute, Albino Rioja got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Danilo Lope struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Gustavo Lleir didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Defensores de Belgrano. During the 27th minute of the match Isidro Belarmo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Isidro Belarmo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Gustavo Lleir took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danilo Lope, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Defensores de Belgrano's Desiderio Escobar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abelardo Tono in the 33rd minute of play. If Danilo Lope had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Abelardo Tono managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piamonte AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Abelardo Tono was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Desiderio Escobar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Abelardo Tono's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Desiderio Escobar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Piamonte AFC's Jairo Muc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Desiderio Escobar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Zeledon Chuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gustavo Lleir made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albino Rioja in the 46th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Gustavo Lleir showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albino Rioja in the 57th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Rogelio Ceandro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Abelardo Tono's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Desiderio Escobar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. 65 minutes into the game, Vicente Aguirre cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Gustavo Lleir was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Danilo Lope came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Defensores de Belgrano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danilo Lope couldn't finish the play. Gustavo Lleir showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danilo Lope, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Justo Romero struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Gustavo Lleir didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Defensores de Belgrano. Rodolfo Gimenez's late challenge caught a Defensores de Belgrano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodolfo Gimenez helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Defensores de Belgrano booed when Piamonte AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodolfo Gimenez didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Rogelio Ceandro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gustavo Lleir. Piamonte AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rogelio Ceandro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. The Defensores de Belgrano fans' excitement grew in the 93rd match minute when Defensores de Belgrano's Danilo Lope looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Danilo Lope received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Gustavo Lleir tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Defensores de Belgrano fully deserved thier win.
