Ciénaga's Sergio Cordarin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Ciénaga from getting a goal against them. Maximino Natanael charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maximino Natanael the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 57th minute, Ciénaga's Mauricio Otoniel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Mauricio Otoniel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Ciénaga protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Mauricio Otoniel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch.
