Maximo Calixto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Patricio Gilen when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Patricio Gilen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erasmo Jayvier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Basilio Todor charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Basilio Todor the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 21st minute there was a penalty for Esperanza FC. Angelo Frasco stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Patricio Gilen. 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maximo Calixto got free with Patricio Gilen in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 24 minutes into the game, Santo Medina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Potrerillos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Esperanza FC the free kick. Santo Medina hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Esperanza FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Angelo Frasco in the 30th minute. When Maximo Calixto came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Esperanza FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximo Calixto couldn't finish the play. Patricio Gilen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo Jayvier, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. The supporters of Esperanza FC booed when Potrerillos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vladimiro Cambranes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esperanza FC's Angelo Frasco shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 37th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Patricio Gilen but with some difficulty. 48 minutes into the match, Esperanza FC's Amador Ixona sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Patricio Gilen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fermin Tirso to make the kick off. Erasmo Jayvier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Patricio Gilen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maximo Calixto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 60 played minutes Potrerillos got a freekick which was hit by Fermin Tirso. When Fermin Tirso got the opportunity to take care of a free kick it resulted in a really dangerous shot that almost went in the goal. Instead the ball went too high, a missed opportunity for Potrerillos. Adolfo Oriche made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cornelio Mero in the 70th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Maximo Calixto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Esperanza FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Maximo Calixto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patricio Gilen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Maximo Calixto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patricio Gilen having to interfere.
